Tips for how to learn to write perfect school essays

Writing essays is a part of college life for many students, but not everyone has the gift of words and many students struggle with the required essays and papers. If you need some helpful tips for improving your papers, then read on because here are some easy yet effective tips that can make essay writing much easier.

  1. Let the first draft just flow
  2. When the time comes to begin writing your first draft, try to write with as few pauses as possible. Do not worry about organization, spelling, grammar, and smaller details. Just let the ideas and words flow and get them onto the page. Many times students focus so much on making the paper perfect the very first time around that they inadvertently kill all creativity. So just write and then go back and fix your mistakes and errors as you work on future drafts.

  3. Develop the three main essay parts
  4. Regardless of the type of essay or paper you are writing, you will have three main parts you must include.

Introduction: A paragraph that begins your essay. This is also where the thesis statement will be found as well as a general overview of your topic.

Body: Paragraphs that focus on and explain the main question with some examples. Usually there is one paragraph for every supporting point that ties back to your thesis statement.

Conclusion: One paragraph that summarizes and ends the essay. Many essays can use a call to action in the conclusion.

  5. Get feedback prior to submitting the paper
  6. Show your draft and ask for feedback from family, friends or teachers. Ask if it makes sense, if it flows well, and if they can understand the points that you are making. Consider their feedback and make changes as necessary. If the essay is big or really important for a class or grade, you may want to consider hiring a professional editor or English tutor to look it over for you.

  7. Proofread and make corrections
  8. The final step is to take the time to read your essay over. Check for typos and misspellings. This step is best done if you can put the essay away for a day or two, as having a fresh look at it after a break can make it easier to spot mistakes.

With these tips in mind you are well on your way to writing the best essay you have ever written!
